Questioning beliefs, exploring new frontiers
Exploring the journey from faith to skepticism and the search for truth beyond religious narratives is a huge intellectual and emotional challenge after being a believer for decades, and accepting the traditional teachings of Christianity. Once the bandaid of belief in a non-existent being is ripped off, the old habits and routines of prayer in times of need and for other people cease. There is no one to pray to, and this can leave the former believer struggling.
This website is my way of addressing my own needs. Each essay examines a doctrine or dogma that is demonstrably false, but which is essential to belief and participation in the social club called the Christian Church. The first essay examines the subject of prayer, and how it is an utterly fruitless exercise because there is no one listening. I think it is a normal reaction, in times of stress and tragedy, to ask if there is anyone out there, to quote Pink Floyd. There isn't, and I used these essays to make my own thoughts clear in my head, and to be used by anyone else asking the same question.
I will link any worthwhile YouTube videos in this space as resources for visitors.
