I am a former Christian who realized after decades of study and Christian ministry, that I no longer accepted the doctrines and dogmas of the Christian Church. Nor did I believe in a supernatural transcendent being to whom I was answerable, and whose own moral character in the Hebrew Bible demonstrates a moral vacuity that surpasses the worst of the human race. I plan to write a series of essays exploring accepted beliefs that I held for 40 years, but later rejected when I applied critical thinking to them. I invite your comments, but I insist that all comments be made respectfully and have some merit, not simply fundamentalist outrage.
Exploring Life Beyond Belief
Rejecting traditional religions, whether they are Judeo-Christian or some other form, does not require abandoning spirituality. In this twenty-first century I can no longer believe the dogmas of Christianity, because science, archaeology, and paleontology make such beliefs anachronistic. I have moved from faith to reason, examining the evidence that challenges traditional beliefs and embracing a life free from spiritual obligations.
